If you would like to play in a special tournament, leave an order with a post in the conversation. It should be like this one: "Please start, 1+0 days tournament. I'm ready to play." In case we get 6 and more orders we start the ordered tournament.
Yes, dear Yotta you're absolutely right. We need to encourage the active part of our community. We motivate those help us. Corvidae's Special (3 days per move) is launched and open to everyone of you, dear friends!
Regarding tourneys I think they should start by a certain date or as soon as a certain number of players have joined. The creator would set those parameters On another site tourney games start as soon as 2 players have joined (those are round-robin tourneys) Perhaps that could apply to KO events as well.
Dear ketchuplover, the only reason we fail to start some tournaments in ASAP mode is that we want as many as possible players to join. The logic is the more waiting time to join the more people could come and join. Isn't it pretty sound from our side? Neh?
When I wait a long time for a tournament to start, I withdraw. I would like to see some tournies with a single opening. Can't recall what you call them but it would help some us learn opening moves. The starting moves could be listed for each to play but not already placed on the board.
I agree, we need thematic tournaments. But only after the launch of round robin tournaments. I have been playing chess for more than 25 year and can say there no thematic knockouts anywhere.
The tourney pop-ups now includes the formatted time control.
We are getting a few requests to implement email reminders for when tournaments are about to start. We will schedule some development time to get such a reminder feature implemented.
I've started Gold Leaves Special: 3 days|move and 5 days to register. I'm curious about the possible number of participants. If everything is ok. We will have short term registration tournaments on a regular basis soon.

It has been over half a year since the last post.
Is anything going to take hold in future tournaments?
First of the year would be a great kick-off for a special event, might even boost membership.
The reason for the delay is that we are evaluating new technology to build the ChessConquest platform on.
A lot has changed in the software space since we first launched ChessConquest, and we believe that a pivot to new modern development tools will allow us to serve the ChessConquest community more efficiently with new requests.
That being said, we don’t want to rush such a decision since it is expensive and we need to make sure it is the right one for long term sustainability
We definitely take note of all your suggestions IDontCastle, and realise that we will have to introduce new features if we want to grow the community.
